Easy Chicken Recipe For Fried Chicken

Easy Chicken Recipes-I am going to share my favorite recipe for fried chicken for all you busy Moms who love to cook! This is a family favorite and so easy to do, I am sure your family will love it too. I learned this from my mom (who never wrote anything down). My sister-in-law asked for this easy fried chicken recipe one day and from that day on it has been written in my collection of recipes instead of my head!

Here are some tips when buying you chicken. One of the first things you want to do is always inspect the chicken package at your grocery store. I prefer to cook boneless, skinless chicken breasts but you can do a whole fryer if you prefer or any of your favorite parts! I always check the color of the chicken, it does not need to be gray or pasty. Always check the “sell by” date and make sure the packaging is not broken. And naturally if the odor is bad, then the chicken is probably bad. Now that we have our main ingredient we can move on to the good stuff…

Here are the ingredients you will need to prepare this easy but scrumpdelicious southern style chicken recipe:

  • 4-6 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
  • 1- Cup Buttermilk
  • 1 1/2-2 Cups Self-rising Flour
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

I usually cook my chicken in a 10 in. nonstick deep skillet with a lid to keep the chicken moist and tender. I use canola oil for cooking and you will need to fill the bottom of your pan with a generous amount of oil (you may prefer a different kind). Keep it handy as you may need to add a little during cooking.

First I put my buttermilk in a med. shallow bowl or dish (whichever is clean). Then I put in about 1 1/2 cups of flour (to start) in a seperate med. shallow bowl or dish. I always add my salt and pepper to my flour mixture and stir for a good even taste. You may want to add some of your favorite spices which is fine. You can really make this your own! Ok back to work… wash the chicken and place in the buttermilk for soaking. You may only be able to add a couple at a time but that’s ok. I then get my oil heating on med high, it should sizzle when you add your first piece. One way to check is with a tiny drop of water, if it sizzles then its ready. I take each chicken breast and roll into my flour bowl until well coated and add to the skillet. Just repeat this process until you have all your chicken in the skillet. I let it brown on one side before I flip it over (usually about 10mins.) and also I leave the heat at med high until I flip the chicken the first time. Once I turn the chicken over (carefully), I reduce the heat to med. and just keep a check on it. I may flip the chicken one more time depending on how quickly it is cooking but usually it should cook in about another 15 minutes depending on how big or thick your chicken breast are and the variations in stove temps. Once the chicken is nice and brown on both sides I usually uncover and cook on med-high again for about 5 minutes.

Now you can remove the chicken and place on paper towels to drain. Serve while hot! This is really easy to cook, and so delicious, you friends and family will keep coming back for more. Hope you enjoy this Easy chicken recipe!
